Help and method

Help lines and how this guide works

The first part of this page lists where to get help with gambling in Ontario, starting with a line that answers at any hour. The second part explains how the Tally desk builds the guide and its evening estimate, and what the estimate keeps.

Where to get help

  • ConnexOntario gives free, confidential help 24/7. Call 1-866-531-2600, text CONNEX to 247247, or chat at connexontario.ca.
  • My PlayBreak lets you bar yourself from any Ontario casino for 3 or 6 months or 1 to 5 years. Enrol with the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, with staff on site or at a PlaySmart Centre.
  • BetGuard (betguard.ca) bars you from every regulated Ontario online gambling site, OLG.ca included. Terms are 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or custom, and it does not cover land-based casinos.
  • PlaySmart, at playsmart.ca, is OLG's responsible gambling site.

A limit set at home

Set two numbers at home, before the drive: your play limit and your stop time. A play limit is the sum you choose for play. Treat it as spent, the price of the evening, not money expected back. Leave at home any bank card you do not need. Sunday to Thursday the casino closes at 1 a.m.

Friday and Saturday are different: the casino is open 24 hours, with no 1 a.m. close to lean on. On those nights the stop time has to come from you.

About the Tally desk

The guide is written and signed by the Tally desk, a collective name rather than a person. No page has a personal byline or a named author. Facts come from the pages of Playtime Casino Hanover, Hanover Raceway and the operator Gateway Casinos. Others come from OLG's casino list and from Ontario sources. All were checked on October 13, 2026, and times are Eastern time.

No prices appear in the evening estimate, because prices change. It uses only numbers you type in: fuel use in litres per 100 km, the pump price and money for food and drinks. A play limit and the hours of the visit complete it. The tool runs in your open browser tab and keeps nothing except the colour theme chosen there.

Distances are straight lines between the casino's map point and OpenStreetMap town points (© OpenStreetMap contributors). A road is always longer. Pictures are generated flat illustrations with no people, not photographs of the venue.
