The floor

Inside Playtime Casino Hanover

The floor at Playtime Casino Hanover is slot machines and electronic tables, with a simulcast theatre at the back, staffed on set afternoons and evenings, where horse races are shown on screens. For younger visitors, the rules at the door matter most, so they are set out plainly below.

The slot machines

The casino floor has 289 slot machines. Each one is a game for a single player, played on a screen. You load credit, press a button, and the screen shows the outcome.

My Club Rewards is the casino's membership programme. Membership costs nothing at all. A guest asks for a card at the Guest Services desk and shows valid ID. The card adds nothing to the evening estimate, since there is no fee to type into the tool.

Electronic tables

An e-table, short for electronic table game, is a screen station for a table game. Some are fully automatic: the machine deals the cards or spins the wheel. Others are dealer-assist, which means a dealer runs the game while players place their bets on screens.

Playtime Casino Hanover has 18 e-table stations, all interconnected, meaning they are linked to one another. The games on them are Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat and War. The casino lists no live table games and no poker room. Every table on this floor is electronic.

Rules at the door

  • Under Ontario law, no one under 19 may enter or stay in a casino. The 18 rule applies to lottery tickets alone, not to casinos.
  • Bring valid government-issued photo ID. Guests 21 or younger also bring a second piece of identification with their name on it.
  • People who are trespassed, meaning formally barred, or self-excluded from this or any Ontario gaming property may not visit. OLG's My PlayBreak, a self-exclusion programme, bars entry to any Ontario casino for the chosen term.
  • The casino describes the facility as accessible. Wheelchairs, accessible formats and communication supports are available on request.

Cash on site

There is an ATM inside the casino, and a second one in the Hanover Raceway grandstand. U.S. currency can be exchanged at the cashier's cage, the counter where cash is handled.

A play limit is the sum you decide at home and treat as spent, the price of the evening. It is easier to keep when it is set before an ATM is in sight. Leaving the bank card in the car is one plain way to keep that distance.

Who runs the casino

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited runs the casino under its Playtime brand. In Ontario, OLG conducts and manages all casino gaming. Private service providers such as Gateway run the sites day to day, and the AGCO regulates them. OLG, the provincial agency, includes Playtime Casino Hanover in its Find A Casino directory under Southwest. Holiday hours should be checked on the casino's own site before the drive.

A 20-year-old needs valid government-issued photo ID and a second piece of name identification. The second piece is required of every guest 21 or younger.
Is there a poker room?
No poker room is listed. The card games on the e-tables are Blackjack, Baccarat and War, with Roulette as the wheel game.
Does the My Club Rewards card cost anything?
No, membership costs nothing. A guest asks for a card at the Guest Services desk and shows valid ID.
